PRINTS
I work primarily in etching but also in screenprint, monoprint and drypoint.
As with my jewellery design I am drawn to colour and mark making.
My inspiration comes from my natural surroundings and most especially when
exploring the Scottish Hebrides islands or the remote North West of Scotland.
The light, colours, dark skies, native plants, seasonal changes, textures and the
contrast between marks left by man and untamed nature; aerial views of island
ruins of old harbour walls, crofts and fanks all inform my printmaking as well as
a connection to the past; a conversation with my ancestors who lived and
worked on this land.
Techniques used include line etch and aquatint, soft ground and blind emboss
and colour is introduced with chine-collé. I often use my jewellers saw to
shape the plates. All of these processes help to build layers of interest,
emotion and texture.
I find that my jewellery and printmaking are informing each other which I love
and am excited about.
I explore line, form, texture and colour, contrasts in nature and a sense of belonging, a sense of place.
I am keen to develop as sustainable a practice as I can and explore collagraph and drypoint techniques in more depth.
Being a member of Fife Dunfermline Printmakers gives me not only access to materials, equipment and space to print my work but the benefit of being part of a printmaking community.
I am also a member of Printmakers of Scotland and I will be exhibiting my printmaking at the Festival of Printmaking which takes place at Stirling University, Pathfoot Building, FK9 4LA from the 15th to 17th August.
I will be showing my printmaking alongside my jewellery at Pittenweem Arts Festival in Fife from 2nd to 9th August 2025.
If you are interested in my prints please get in touch for more information.
